Transformed by EV Fairfall Blog Tour + Review

Transformed by EV Fairfall
Publication Date: January 1, 2014
Genres: Fantasy, Paranormal

Synopsis from Goodreads:
Since the beginning, two entities have had complete, unquestioned control over Thea: the Earth and God.

But when Thea suddenly figures out that the Earth has  trapped her within a forest, she discovers that the only way to set herself free is to break God's one rule; she must forsake her animal form and become human.

The result is nothing she could ever have expected. Lost within the torrent of human emotions, Thea starts to lose who she is and even begins to fall in love with the one thing she always hated: a hunter.

As her act against God proves more problematic than anticipated, it is only a matter of time before her punishment may prove to be worse than Earth's entrapment.

Review: I will admit again, I am not the biggest fan of paranormal books. I know that is not always fair though, as when I think paranormal I usually think Twilight, and that's not right. I know that not every paranormal book is going to have sparkly vampires and mind-reading werewolves (sorry Twilight lovers. I didn't hate the series, but it was just fine for me). Obviously, after reading this book for sure, I need to expand my view of the genre so I do not miss out on gems like Transformed by EV Fairfall. The plot was so original, something that was a nice relief since lately I have read a few things that have been very similar to one another. It was a breath of fresh air, as they say. I am also a huge fan of mythology, and I like that this skimmed the service of that as well (I actually finished a unit on mythology with my middle school students on Friday - they loved it!). I can't say I have read too many original creation stories, either, so overall it was a great, new plot for me.

While the plot was great, it was really the characters that made this book so great and memorable for me. Thea is a great lead character; I love what she stands for and that she seems so identical to the Greek goddess Artemis - the goddess of the hunt. She is so likeable that I could not help but cheer for her. She had a great cast of characters to support her, too. I loved the relationship between Thea and Chamber (but let's face it, I love stories of love!). It's so unpredictable, too - Thea falling for a hunter. Cricket was an enjoyable side character as well, bringing humor when it was needed into the story, and I wish we could have gotten even more of her.

Overall, this was a wonderful read full of new, enjoyable moments and characters. While it was essentially a creation story, there was a lot of focus on love and what you would do for it as well, and I always enjoy that. It was a very fast read for me, as I did not want to put the book down once I got through the first few chapters and was into the book. Along with that, just look at that cover! It would be enough to make me stop and pick it up if I spotted it on a shelf in the bookstore. Needless to say, I would recommend this book to everyone.

About the Author
I love to write just as much as I love to read. I try to read a book per week, which doesn't always work out, but it's the thought that counts. Aside from all that I am a huge animal person.

Transformed is my first novel, but it isn't my first publication; I've had several short stories published over the last two years. My main goal as a writer is to explore humanity and to give people something fun to read.

  1. I adored Cricket! Made me smile so much, especially when she was trying to sort our the clothes in her squirrel form.
